New range of oil-injected compressors
Since 1943 Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH, the parent company of Aerzen Machines Ltd in the UK, has been manufacturing and developing screw compressors for air and gas compression applications. Aerzen has more than three decades of experience of oil-injected compressed air technology and is one of the most well-established and biggest manufacturers in Europe.
The screw compressors series VMX air ends are delivered to packagers of screw compressor assemblies to manufacture movable and stationary compressed air compressors. The new range has been revised completely and now covers volume flows from 70 up to 3.200 m³/h and drive capacities from 15 up to 355 kW with 10 different sizes machines. The admissible differential pressures were increased as standard to 15 bar (single-stage); in vacuum operation single-stage intake pressures up to 0,1 bar abs. were achieved.
The unit can either be driven directly or via a belt drive and all the compressor stages are also suitable for frequency converter operation. In addition, in the higher capacity range, two gearbox versions have been developed with 4 possible ratios as standard, delivering volume flows from 690 up to 3.200 m³/h or drive capacities from 75 up to 355 kW. The gearbox machines have been designed for particularly robust applications and offer a flexible direction of rotation; this is advantageous, for example, when diesel motors are being used.
The whole of the new VMX range is distinguished by adapting screw profiles with larger diameters. Aerzen has therefore translated the market trend towards slowly running screw compressors successfully into its new range.
With regard to the performance curves: while the previous model VMX 0937 R with a drive of 22 kW and differential pressure of 10 bar required a speed of 6.300 rpm, with the same performance data the speed can be reduced to 3.450 rpm for the new size VMX 22 R. This improves the lifetime of the bearings and simultaneously reduces the lifecycle costs. Furthermore, the sound level has been reduced considerably and the innovative VMX-compressors can thus minimize the costs for acoustic hoods and silencers in unit manufacturing.
Further advantages of the new, oil-injected compressors are the favourable price-performance ratio due to innovative production possibilities and an energetically optimised screw profile, guaranteeing especially high efficiency and consequently energy-saving operation. The Aerzen VMX-compressors also offer high operating safety and low maintenance costs, due to the installation of only few wear parts.
Aerzen’s innovative products help plant manufacturers and operators to strengthen their market success in the long term, and the company’s philosophy - one step ahead – translates into successful action for the benefit of both parties.
